diabetic hypothyroidism of thyroid glandHypothyroidism is a pathology lack of thyroid gland hormones. Patients having such diagnosis have very slow metabolism processes, which are in direct relation with diabetes progress. Taking in account the fact that hypothyroidism does not lead to significant changes of blood glucose level, it may affect the insulin inactivation, leading to the insulin demand and, as a result, to decreasing of insulin amount.

It happens very often that hyperthyroidism leads to disorders of lipid metabolism: increase of cholesterol level and "bad" lipids, lowering the concentration of triglycerides and "good" lipids in blood. This leads to appearance or speeding up development of atherosclerosis of vessels and, as a result, increases the risk of heart attack or cerebrovascular accident.

Hyperthyrosis is the disease manifested by excess of thyroid gland hormones and their influence on the organism. Combination of hyperthyrosis with diabetes mellitus can be found in 1% of patients. In this case signs of both two diseases are manifested. Patients that suffer from hyperthyrosis have speedier metabolism processes and the risk of acidosis is going up, and then diabetic coma may happen. Sometimes, it helps to find “hidden” forms of diabetes. Hyperthyrosis may lead to poorer heart muscle nutrition, showed with heart rhythm disorders. It may happen, when hyperthyrosis is not treated for a long time, also it can cause significant loss of bone mass that leads to appearance of osteoporosis.
