Blood sugar analisysAnalysis of blood sugar must be completed from time to time even in case of people that have good health condition, because early detection of health problems allows to adjust power or kinds of medications or assign a specific treatment in time. Especially it is good because this method of medical examination does not deliver much discomfort, and it is not difficult to be completed.

Analysis will detect elevated levels of blood glucose. And then the doctor will schedule follow-up study - the test for blood sugar levels. There are several tests - is the fence of venous, from a finger and capillary blood, analyzes of the pancreas work with specific load and without load and also analyses of levels of glycated hemoglobin.

Why is so much attention today is given to the study of blood sugar? It is so cecause diabetes has become a real plague of our century. Unfortunately, many are unaware of their disease, continuing to eat without a specific diet. This continues until, for some reason people go to the clinic and then they appoint to complete a blood glucose analysis.

In many cases, when blood glucose levels are higher than normal, people feel unwell, constant thirst, dry mucous membranes, fatigue, increase in the amount of urine, slow healing of wounds. Then they go to the doctor, and the analysis of sugar shows that it is much higher than normal. If there is at least one symptom of the above, do not hesitate to visit a doctor. It is better to pass the tests that will show the level of glucose, and determine if you have diabetes, poor health or other causes and diseases.

Test on level of blood glucose should be taken in the morning and on an empty stomach, taken from the finger of a hand. What is the level that can be considered normal in fasting?

Standard normal values lie in between 3,3-5,5 mmol / l, regardless of the age of the person. If tests of blood for sugar level index 5.5-6.0 mmol / l it is considered endocrinology pre-diabetes, that is a condition intermediate between health and diabetes mellitus. Other names of this disease are impaired glucose tolerance or impaired fasting glucose.

Diabetes mellitus is diagnosed when level of blood glucose is above 6.1 mmol / l on patient’s empty stomach (in fasting state).

If the analysis was taken from a vein, also on an empty stomach, the norm is considered an indicator of glucose by 12% higher than in case of precedent method. In this case, the rate up to 6.1 mmol / l is considered normal, and the diagnosis "diabetes" is set for the index above 7.0 mmol / l.

This disease is no doubt about the presence of characteristic symptoms even after a single study on glucose, when the result is higher than normal. If there are no symptoms of diabetes, and blood sugar is much higher than normal, then the next day analyses are re-assigned to the patient. In case of confirmation of results of the first analysis then diabetes mellitus is diagnosed.

In some cases, the test that helps to clarify the diagnosis is completed. It is analysis in special conditions, exactly in case of “glucose overload”. The blood is taken on a patient’s empty stomach, and then he should drink rich syrup containing 75 grams of sugar. After 2 hours, the analysis is taken again. Normal values are up to 7.8 mmol / l, in case of prediabetes - 7,8-11,00 mmol / l, and in case of presence of diabetes mellitus the results are above 11.1 mmol / l.

In case of examination of sugar levels patient should follow the same diet as in ordinary days, that is, prior to the analysis there’s no need to specifically consume less sweets and other foods that you normally eat. But also do not donate blood after a roaring party and during a cold, disease and in case of any injuries.

People who are diagnosed with diabetes have to constantly measure their level of glucose. How to measure it at home? Glucometers are used for independent completing of analyzes of blood glucose level. But testimony of such measurements is less accurate than laboratory. Therefore, when a deviation from norm is noticed it is better to re-complete analyses in the clinic.
